  • “Infographics are visual representations of information, data or knowledge. These graphics can be used to explain complex information quickly and clearly, such as in signs, maps, journalism, technical writing, and education. They are also used extensively as tools by computer scientists, mathematicians and statisticians to ease the process of communicating conceptual ideas.”

  1. I was unaware of what infographics were and how they could be used in the classroom. I found this post very interesting and helpful. I do not understand how I can use this in my classroom. Could you help me identify how to use infographics into my classroom. I think infographics would enhance the idea of presented certain data into the classroom. Thank you for sharing!

  2. Hi Dianne. My name is Kevin Reese and I am a student of EDM310 at the University of South Alabama. You were chosen for my C4T (Comments for Teachers) project this week, so I am honored to have the opportunity to read your blog. Infographics seems to be an idea that has been around for quite a while and I was awed that things like the cave drawings and rock drawings were forms of infographics. In modern times, infographics have evolved for a lot more uses, such as in comic books, educational tools, industry publications, and the list could go on literally forever. My bet would be that a lot of people would simply refer to infographics as pictures, which they are, but distinctive because they are condensing a lot of information to tell a story, of sorts. I think it is great that you are teaching your students about this idea of saving time and space by having their ideas and projects simplified using infographics. I will spread the word myself and teach it when the time comes for what it is. I’m sure the students will get a kick out of knowing their ancestors were pretty much in step with their favorite graphic or picture.
